Acute Generalized Exanthematous Pustulosis (AGEP) Defined

AGEP refers to the appearance of multiple sterile pustules occurring in association with swelling and redness as an acute skin reaction to certain medications. The rash typically occurs within a few days of exposure. Beta-lactams antibiotics (such as penicillins and cephalosporins) are frequently the cause, but other medications and even viral infections may also be implicated.
