Helping Girls Breathe Easier

In 2005, the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI) partnered with the Asthma Coalition of Long Island, NY, to help expand its Girl Scouts asthma awareness program, "Helping Girls Breathe Easier," to a national level. The goal of the program is to raise asthma awareness among nearly 3 million Girl Scouts, and one million adult volunteers and their families.

The program incorporates activities for each level of Girl Scouting and encourages the girls to create awareness about asthma by reaching out to their communities. The program hopes that by empowering the girls to take charge of their health it will lead to increased self-esteem and responsible decision-making.
