The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology is the largest professional medical organization in the United States devoted to the allergy/immunology specialty.The AAAAI represents, asthma specialists, clinical immunologists, allied health professionals and others with a special interest in the research and treatment of allergic disease. Established in 1943, the AAAAI has nearly 6,500 members in the United States, Canada and 60 other countries.
The AAAAI is devoted to the advancement of the knowledge and practice of allergy, asthma and immunology for optimal patient care.
What is an Allergist/Immunologist?
An allergist/immunologist is the best-qualified medical profession to prevent, diagnose and treat allergic disease.An allergist/immunologist is a physician certified in internal medicine or pediatrics who has completed an additional two years of allergy/immunology training in an accredited program.
Board-certified allergist/immunologists obtain certification through the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.
Annual Meeting
The AAAAI will hold its 2010 Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA, February 26 - March 2.Each year, academic and clinical leaders in the specialty gather at the Annual Meeting to showcase new research and discuss other developments in the areas of allergy, asthma and immunology.

Publications
The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (JACI) is the official scientific journal of the AAAAI. Published monthly, the JACI is the most-cited journal in the field of allergy and clinical immunology.Visit the JACI Web site.
The AAAAI produces AAAAI News, a quarterly member publication, and Allergy & Asthma Issues, a quarterly patient education publication, as well as numerous public education materials.

ART
The Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Education and Research Trust (ART) supports the development of treatments and cures for allergic and immunologic disease through financial awards for education and research.The ART, formerly known as the Education and Research Trust, awarded $200,000 in 2008 and regularly funds research projects, A/I training programs, faculty development, travel grants and other education and research opportunities.
National Allergy Bureau
The National Allergy Bureau (NAB) is an AAAAI-certified pollen and outdoor mold spore counting network.The NAB issues pollen and mold reports three times a week and provides information on common seasonal outdoor allergy triggers.
Organization
The AAAAI is led by a 15-member Board of Directors which oversees strategic, financial and operational planning of the organization. Paul A. Greenberger, MD, FAAAAI, was elected AAAAI President at the 2009 AAAAI Annual Meeting and will serve through March 1, 2010.
