Participate in Annual Meeting Planning: Review Abstracts
To continually provide AAAAI members with opportunities to participate in the Annual Meeting planning process, and help create a superior educational experience, the Annual Meeting Program Committee (AMPC) is looking for committee members who are interested in serving as part of the abstract review ad hoc working group for the 2009 Annual Meeting.“Scoring abstracts is a critical component to the success of the Annual Meeting,” said R. Stokes Peebles, Jr., MD, FAAAAI, Chair of the Annual Meeting Program Committee. “Each Interest Section provides abstract reviewers who read each abstract carefully and then score it based on significance, methodology and overall quality. Based on these scores, the abstracts are programmed into either oral abstract or poster sessions. This is an important task and I highly encourage persons who wish to review abstracts to contact their Interest Section Chairs.”
Scoring of abstracts takes place within a four-week period in September, in which reviewers are assigned abstracts based on topic category. The number of abstracts assigned to each reviewer varies with each Interest Section.
The AMPC encourages AAAAI committee chairs to provide names of committee members to be considered as part of the ad hoc working group. Suggestions will be reviewed and selected based on their area of expertise in relation to the topic categories.
All recommendations should be submitted by July 11, 2008, to Krista Perkins at the AAAAI executive office at (414) 272-6071 or e-mail kperkins@aaaai.org. AAAAI members interested in participating in the review process should contact their committee chairs.
