AAAAI News: November 2008

Annual Meeting News

Late-Breaking Abstract Submission Opens

The AAAAI begins accepting late-breaking abstracts on November 13 for possible presentation at the 2009 Annual Meeting. Submission of late-breaking abstracts will be reviewed under the following criteria:

  • The abstract contains work that is original and has not been previously submitted to, presented at, or under consideration for any other scientific meeting, including the regular abstract submission.
  • The work is significant to clinical, translational or basic science; novel; uses appropriate study design, analytical methods and experimental methods; and is clearly and logically written.
  • Abstracts selected for late-breaking presentation will feature newsworthy and cutting-edge information that was not available at the time of the regular abstract submission.
  • Authors will be required to explain why their abstract is considered important or late breaking.

To be considered for presentation at the 2009 Annual Meeting, late-breaking abstracts must be submitted via the Annual Meeting Web site, www.annualmeeting.aaaai.org, by December 1. Late-breaking abstracts are not intended to offer a second deadline for regular abstract submissions.

For more information, contact Amanda Buckley at the AAAAI executive office at (414) 272-6071 or e-mail abuckley@aaaai.org.

It's Not Too Late: Claim Your CME/CE Credits from the 2008 Annual Meeting

Back by Popular Demand: Interest Section Forums and Featured Poster Session

All delegates are invited to attend an Interest Section Forum at the 2009 Annual Meeting. Each interest section of the AAAAI hosts a separate forum taking place on Sunday, March 15, from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. Forums include an educational presentation and business meeting to highlight interest section and committee activities. Fellows and members may designate their interest section affiliation, while non-members may inquire about AAAAI membership opportunities. Continuing education credit is available for this activity.

Following the Interest Section Forums is the Featured Poster Session and Reception from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Each interest section showcases posters deemed to be of high impact and importance. You can use the reception as a time to network with colleagues and friends.

Get Involved. Stay Connected.
The AAAAI is comprised of seven interest sections, which are defined groups of members with similar interests within the specialty of allergy/immunology. Each interest section consists of a leadership committee and a series of component committees. The purpose of interest sections is to advance the knowledge and understanding about particular issues concerning allergies, asthma and immunology.

Benefits of belonging to an interest section:

  • Right to vote on interest section business
  • Active participation in the planning process for the AAAAI Annual Meeting
  • Collaboration and exchange of ideas between colleagues and experts in specific area of interest
  • Networking opportunities for professionals who share common interests
  • Promotion of research and study, to advance the knowledge and understanding about particular issues concerning allergies, asthma and immunology
  • Oversight in coordinating the relevant committees of the AAAAI

Interest sections are open to all AAAAI members. For more information, visit the Members Center of www.aaaai.org, and click on the "Interest Sections" link under Organizational Structure.
