There are plenty of options for how to get around Washington, DC. The 17 official AAAAI hotels are within walking distance of the Convention Center, and DC has one of the world's best public transportation systems. Airport Shuttles
Two shuttle companies are offering discounts to AAAAI Annual Meeting attendees traveling to and from the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, the Washington Dulles International Airport or the Baltimore Washington International Airport.The Airport Shuttle is offering a discount to Annual Meeting delegates. Bus
The DC Circulator is a new bus service that connects downtown to Georgetown and Union Station via the Washington Convention Center on an East-West route and the Washington Convention Center and its nearby Shaw neighborhood with the Southwest Waterfront via the National Mall on a North-South route. The Circulator also operates a seasonal loop around the National Mall between 4th Street and 17th Street.Busses operate from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm daily. The National Mall loop operates from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Tickets cost $1, and transfers between routes are free of charge.
Metro
The Metro conveniently stops right at the Washington Convention Center and operates Monday through Thursday from 5:00 am to 12:00 pm, Friday until 3:00 am, Saturdays from 7:00 am to 3:00 am, and Sunday from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm. Fares run from $1.65 to $4.50 per trip. Tickets can be purchased by cash or credit cards from vending machines located at the stations. Taxis are readily available at each of the AAAAI Annual Meeting hotels, as well as near the baggage claim areas of the three airports serving Washington, DC. From the Ronald Reagan National Airport to downtown, fares are approximately $15. From the Washington Dulles International Airport, the fare is $55 to downtown. Train
If you're already on the East Coast, plan to travel to and from the meeting via the train. Amtrak offers a 10% discount off the lowest available rail fare to Washington, DC between March 10, 2009 and March 20, 2009. To receive the discount for AAAAI Annual Meeting delegates mention the code X61V-954 when booking your reservation.
