What is an Interest Section?

Interest Sections are defined groups of members with similar interests within the medical specialty of allergy and immunology. The purpose of Interest Sections is to advance the knowledge and understanding about particular issues concerning allergies, asthma and immunology.

Currently there are seven AAAAI Interest Sections. For more information about Interest Sections or their committees, please click on the links below.

basic and clinical immunologyImmunotherapy, Rhinitis, Sinusitis, Ocular diseases & Cough
environmental and occupational respiratory diseasesmechanisms of asthma and allergic inflammation
food allergy, anaphylaxis, dermatology, and drug allergy

Benefits of belonging to an Interest Section:

  • Right to vote on Interest Section business.
  • Active participation in the planning process for the AAAAI Annual Meeting.
  • Collaboration and exchange of ideas between colleagues and experts in specific areas of interest.
  • Network opportunities for professionals who share common interests.
  • Promotion of research and study, to advance the knowledge and understanding about particular issues concerning allergies, asthma and immunology.
  • Oversight in coordinating the relevant committees of the AAAAI.

It is highly recommended that each AAAAI member be aligned with at least one Interest Section. The Interest Sections are overseen by a committee made up of a Chair, a Vice-Chair and the chairs of the committees that fall under that Interest Section.
