Latex Allergy Statistics

  • Latex allergy affects an estimated 1 percent to 6 percent of the general population (at least 3 million people), but as many as 17 percent of healthcare professionals.1
  • People who have had multiple surgeries are at great risk of developing latex allergy - 68 percent of children with spina bifida are allergic.1
  • Approximately 220 cases of anaphylaxis and 3 deaths per year are due to latex allergy.2
