Omalizumab

Xolair

To treat allergic asthma. Age 12 and older.

This medication is a monoclonal antibody. Xolair is injected subcutaneously every 2 to 4 weeks depending upon the prescribed dose.
Xolair has an anti-IgE effect.
IgE is the antibody that is responsible for many allergic conditions.
Xolair is used when the allergen is a perennial one such as dust mites, dog, cat or cockroach.

Cinryze

To prevent angioedema due to C1 esterase inhibitor deficiency.

Available in December 2008.
