A/I for Medical Students and Medical Residents: FAQ
Support available for training in A/I
A/I FITs are offered free membership in the AAAAI, as well as many free services, including:
- subscriptions to our periodicals AAAAI News, Practice Issues and the Journal of Allergy & Clinical Immunology
- continuing medical education opportunities
- travel stipends to attend the Annual Meeting
- research grants and fellowships
- practice management information
One of the most important member benefits is attending the AAAAI Annual Meeting. With over 7,700 participants in 2008, this meeting is the premiere opportunity for trainees to network with practicing physicians and academicians and learn about the most recent scientific advances in the management of allergic/immunologic disorders. The FIT Program is a popular, highly interactive experience. Travel grants are available for U.S. and international FITs to encourage participation in the Annual Meeting. For more information on AAAAI membership, please click here. For information on FIT travel grants, send an email to Katie Muellenbach.
The AAAAI actively supports research in A/I. Research grant awards further scientific development in our field by promoting medical training and cutting-edge research that ultimately improve patient care. For complete information on AAAAI grants, please click here
or email Jerome Schultz.
The AAAAI also sponsors the Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Education and Research Trust (ART) to provide a source of funding for allergy and immunology training, education and research. Grants are awarded to a variety of A/I professionals to ensure the specialty and the quality of care for patients. The ART's target of $10 million is rapidly being met.
