Major Goals of Training Program
This is a combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics program that permits entry of residents trained in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or both. Trainees receive well-rounded clinical training in adult and pediatric allergic and immunologic diseases. The Clinical Immunology and Allergy Unit includes the Immunology and Allergy Research Laboratory, as well as the Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Laboratory. Facilities contain over 12,550 sq. ft. of laboratories, and fellows may complete their research requirements through participation in the Section's on-going projects. Trainees also have the opportunity to develop protocols for new research proposals, and such efforts are encouraged. The program is based in Tulane University Health Sciences Center, and fellows rotate through the clinics and consultation services of affiliated hospitals, including The Louisiana State University Interim Hospital (formerly known as University Hospital), the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System and the Ochsner Medical Center.
