Major Goals of Training Program
The Program's goal is to provide the depth of training experience in Pediatric Allergy and Immunology required to pursue any career goal in academic Pediatrics. The clinical training component derives its depth and balance through the experience at The Children's Hospital (inpatient and outpatient Pediatric Allergy and Immunology) and the adult program at the University of Pennsylvania (Dr. Andrea Apter, acting Director). While Adult-Pediatric crossover is maintained to meet board requirements, we seek to provide a unique Pediatric focus. This program offers a balanced approach to immunology and allergy and fellows actively manage complex patients to gain expertise in both realms. Within the growing Division of Allergy and Immunology, there is a high level of exposure to faculty members committed to the clinical and research aspects of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology. The resources for training are broad and extend beyond the Division. There are courses in statistics and molecular biology and the potential for extended epidemiology and translational research training. The entire University campus, including the Medical Center, is in the immediate surroundings so that access to faculty and programs in the Immunology Graduate group and other centers is readily available. This is a three year program to enable crystallization of clinical skills with a junior attending elective and a strong emphasis on research.

Major Goals of Training Program
The aim of our program is to train high quality clinicians with a firm background in clinical research. We wish to attract applicants from those with a research background and with the urge to enter academics or perform clinical research in addition to practicing Allergy and Immunology. Our medical center is safe and located in a beautiful rural setting. Despite being located in a rural setting the arts, music, entertainment and access to large metro centers are available. Our faculty is varied and we encourage diversity. The stress will be on case based and problem based learning instead of straight didactic; however traditional didactics will be used as a learning tool as well. Pediatric and Adult training are both stressed and competency in both is necessary for graduation. Our belief is that education should be challenging, exciting and fun.

Major Goals of Training Program
The major goals of this training program are to develop the pediatricians and internists into excellent allergists and clinical immunologists. This goal is seen as requiring the development of diversified skills which include clinical competence, recognition of the need to treat the entire patient, and competence in application of the experimental method of clinical problems. To achieve this goal, the trainee is provided experience in a university hospital, a children's hospital and an affiliated practice. A research project which may be either clinical or basic is expected to be completed by the trainee, presented at a national meeting and reported in a manuscript.

Major Goals of Training Program
The aim of this program is to train individuals in clinical and investigative aspects of a broad-spectrum of immunologic disorders including allergy, immunodeficiency and autoimmunity. There is formal cross-training in Pediatric Allergy and Immunology in the adjacent Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. All Fellows are trained in investigative approaches with opportunity for exposure to cutting edge technology in cellular and molecular biology, epidemiology and disease outcomes research. Fellows participate in at least one basic or clinical research project and are expected to present their research findings at national meetings. Besides our clinical conference program there are combined conferences with our Pulmonary and Rheumatology Divisions and the extensive lecture program of the Immunology Graduate Group (over 150 biomedical faculty). There is also close research and clinical collaboration with the Neurology, Pathology and Dermatology Departments. An NIH-sponsored Immunology Training Grant provides funding for the research component in the third year.

Major Goals of Training Program
The main goal of the program is to provide a broad training experience that prepares physicians to enter academics as either clinician/educators or researchers. The program is based at the only pediatric hospital in the region, and consequently trainees are exposed to a wide range of both allergic and immunologic disease states in children. The adult experience is obtained at the University Hospital which also provides a wide variety of clinical cases in adult patients. One of the strengths of the program is that there is a broad clinical experience in pediatric and adult clinical care, inpatient and outpatient cases, and both allergic and immunologic disease states. The research experience is obtained in NIH funded laboratories. Laboratory opportunities exist throughout the university. Each fellow has a mentoring committee to facilitate the selection and progress of research projects. The goal is to both present a research project at a national meeting and to prepare a manuscript for publication in a peer-reviewed journal by the completion of the training period. There is an extensive educational curriculum that includes four conferences per week for the fellows.
